Artist Call: 2018/19 Art Exhibitions in City-run spaces

Deadline: Ongoing. By August 3 is recommended.

Submissions of art work by local artists are being accepted for exhibitions in the following locations: Richmond Cultural Centre Upper Rotunda, Gateway Theatre Upper Lobby Gallery, Cambie, City Centre, Thompson and South Arm Community Centres.

Applicants from Richmond are given priority but artists from other parts of BC will also be considered. In an effort to provide as many artists as possible with an opportunity to exhibit, artists may not be awarded exhibitions in consecutive years.

Deadline: Ongoing. However, it is strongly recommend applications are submitted by Friday, August 3 for the best opportunity for placement.

Richmond Cultural Centre Upper Rotunda
Monthly rotating exhibitions. The Upper Rotunda wall is approximately 80′ wide and 6′ high. The artwork may include: paintings, drawings, photographs, quilts or other textile pieces and items that can be displayed on paper, canvas or in frames. Free-standing pieces cannot be accommodated. There is also a 3D display case with removable shelving (24”w x 18”d x 76”h) and exhibitions including art work such as pottery and wood work will be considered.

Gateway Theatre
Artwork will be displayed on the wall of the second floor lobby which is approximately 59′ wide and 9.5′ high. Gateway accepts work in 2D media only. Works must be framed and behind glass or be paintings on canvas; free-standing pieces cannot be accommodated.

Thompson Community Centre
Monthly rotating exhibitions. The exhibition wall is 28′ and is appropriate for paintings, drawings, photographs, hanging textile pieces, and items that can be displayed framed or on canvas. Free-standing pieces cannot be accommodated. For more information regarding this space, contact thompsonartcommittee@gmail.com.

Cambie Community Centre Games Room
Monthly rotating exhibitions. The artwork will be displayed in 3 box-style frames hanging on the wall. The frames are 3’9″ wide, 5′ long and 3″ deep. There is protective Plexiglas on the front of the frames. Artwork may include: paintings, drawings, photographs and or textile pieces suitable for hanging and items that can be displayed framed or on canvas. 3D art that fits into the above measurements can be accommodated. City Centre Community Centre
Monthly rotating exhibitions. The artwork may include: paintings, drawings, photographs and or textile pieces suitable for hanging and items that can be displayed framed or on canvas. There is also a 3D display case and exhibitions including art work such as pottery and woodwork will be considered.

South Arm Community Centre
Old Building Hallway: 15′ wide and 7′ high wall. The wall can fit approximately seven (7) frames that are approximately 24 inches high x 18 inches wide. Artworks may include paintings, drawings, photographs and other works that can be displayed on paper or in frames. Free-standing pieces cannot be accommodated.

Electronic submissions such as an email with links or attachments preferred. If not possible, Flash Drives, Discs or hard copies can be mailed or dropped off to the address below. Please note that submissions will not be returned.

Biography of artist (no more than one page)
An Artist’s Statement and a Statement of Proposed Work
Samples of work (PDF/JPEG format, images in 300 dpi, 2-3 Mb):
5 – 10 high images of recent work. Images must be representative of proposed exhibition. Electronic submissions preferred.
