City of Burnaby’s Century Garden Public Art Call

Deadline: December 3, 3pm

Century Garden Public Art Project
The City of Burnaby is in the process of designing an upgrade to Deer Lake Park Road to better accommodate pedestrians and cyclists. A new pedestrian entry opposite the RCMP building and enlarged plaza at the entrance to Century Garden is included in the civil works project.

As part of this project the City wishes to commission one or more professional artist(s) and/or artist collective(s) to create a permanent site-specific artwork(s) to enrich the visitor’s entry to and experience of the Garden.

The City of Burnaby will select the artist(s)/artist team(s) through an open National call to artists employing a two-stage process:

• Stage 1 – Request for Expressions of Interest
• Stage 2- Request for Proposal

The public art project budget is $140,000 (including PST if applicable, not including GST).

Artist Eligibility
Professional artists, or artist collectives are encouraged to submit their qualifications and letters of interest if they are:
• Living and working in the Canada
• Experienced in creating art for the public realm

At least three years public art experience or working with project teams and being based in the Lower Mainland will be considered an asset.
