Capturing Moments: Chronicling our Lives

Coquitlam Heritage is currently accepting applications for art to be displayed at Place des Arts in Coquitlam in early 2021. The theme of the exhibition is how art captures memories and significant moments in time. Whether it is tracing a line to the past or documenting the present, artists have a unique perspective and can chronicle history for future generations to come. Think of Picasso’s Guernica as a cry from Spain’s past, or Canadian painter Robert Harris’ A Meeting of the School Trustees, capturing the stance of a young female schoolteacher in 19th century Prince Edward Island. What moments in time have been preserved in your artwork, whether personal or as a view of society at large? Mediums can include, but are not limited to, scrapbooking pages, photographs, painting, drawing, collage, textile, mixed media, or written formats such as journal pages.

Interested artists should send a statement of interest, before Sunday November 15th, 2020, that includes:
• Name of artist
• Description of submission
• Size
• Medium/Materials
• Short explanatory paragraph about how the piece connects to the theme. (100 words or less).

Selected artists will be notified within a week after applying. We appreciated all submissions but only selected artists will be contacted.
