Soil Chromatography Workshop – Culture Days

September 25, 2021 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

September 25
Soil Chromatography Workshop – Culture Days
Richmond Cultural Centre
7700 Minoru Gate
2:30pm-4pm
Branscombe House will be hosting this soil chromatography workshop! For this workshop, we will be using lab equipment and earth samples to make prints. The soil you collect should be from a place that’s significant to you—whether you find it yourself or have someone mail you a sample from another place that you can’t visit right now due to the pandemic. In these ‘prints’ of earth processes, the radial patterns turn out differently depending on soil quality, carbon and mineral content. Soil chromatography has been used to determine the health of soil, but we can use it to create a collection of artworks that represent different places. Register in advance for the free online activity by RSVPing to rachelrozanski@gmail.com . A detailed material list will be provided by email. This free workshop will be held in-person at the Richmond Cultural Centre’s Outdoor Plaza.
