Walking Atlas and Community Art Exhibition

September 23 - December 4

Drop by the Richmond Cultural Centre’s east hallway and explore a pop-up exhibition of artworks created through the 2018 Branscombe House Artist Residency program. Walking Atlas features a series of handmade maps created by Keely O’Brien. Each map represents a different interpretation of the artist’s experience of the Steveston landscape. The maps document the artist’s process of arrival in her new home and her exploration of the new neighbourhood. These personal cartographic observations capture fleeting and often overlooked details within the local landscape. The exhibition also features a selection artworks created by local community members in some of Keely’s monthly, free workshops at Branscombe House. The current exhibition includes documentation from her spring workshops including her Paper Neighbourhood (Feb.11), Altered Map Garland (Mar.11), Archival Photo Shadowboxes (Apr.8) and Artist Walking Map (May.13) workshops.
