DESCRIPTION:May 3 – May 5\nJapan’s Children’s Day\nBritannia Shipyards National Historic Site\n5180 Westwater Drive\n10am-5pm. May 5th is a national holiday in Japan called “Children’s Day” or Kodomo-no-hi\, a special occasion to honour children’s happiness and well-being. Visitors can join us in a the tradition of making “kabuto” (samurai) helmets out of origami during the Children’s Day weekend. In Japan\, homes and businesses may display miniature samurai warrior doll sets (with armor\, helmet & sword)\, and children will make these paper hats to commemorate the holiday.
