Mixed Media Painter
Artist Biography:
Hi, I’m Jeremy Xavier Lefebvre, a mixed media painter living in Vancouver, BC.
With each canvas, my process begins with a phrase that gets spat out over and over in dizzying repetition. The poetic storm is then overlaid with impressionistic images, wild brush strokes and abstract forms to marry the literary with the visual. Within these moments of chaos, my works confront themes of overabundance, claustrophobia, and excess. I primarily utilize acrylics, markers, and pastels in the creation of each piece. As the painting goes into completion I think of how to showcase the piece and continue to give it life, either by finding it’s perfect home or with life performance altering the piece in some way or a form of destruction.
Artist Statement:
A bright, poetically charged storm of acrylic. Landscapes form in the crowded paintings filled with the animals and words. Crying to be let loose or taken somewhere the would have the space to breathe, in contrast the figurative pieces showcase the possibility or the land taken from the animals one subject and a total freedom. Current events are always being absorbed and regurgitated and thus reflected in each piece.
