Beauty in the Weirdness
Beauty in the Weirdness

Artist Statement
My work is driven by an enduring obsession with big eyes—symbols of perception, vulnerability, and intimacy. These eyes emerge in figures that fuse human and insect-like qualities, expressing a surreal femininity shaped by themes of motherhood and coupledom. Influenced by Picasso’s emotional abstraction and bold forms, I aim to find beauty in the weirdness—revealing tenderness in the strange, and connection in the unexpected. Through this lens, my work explores the complex emotional world of love, care, and coexistence.

I paint using acrylic, oil, and oil sticks on canvas. Acrylic allows me to work quickly and explore ideas freely, while oil adds richness and depth. Oil sticks give me a more direct, expressive way to draw and blend on the surface, bringing energy and texture to each piece. Together, these materials help me create a layered and emotional visual language.
