Sharing Creative Visions
Artist Statement:
Quinton Qiu is a visual artist residing in Richmond, BC. Sharing creative visions with youth is my passion, which motivates me to produce fun, engaging and story-driven arts to share them Imagination. His artistic medium spans painting, weaving, sculpture, photography, and performance. His works provide a lens for social reconsideration through the embodiment of hypothetical figures, recontextualizing them within a gallery context and creating a conversation between the figures and the space.
“Wander with Taichii” is an ongoing series he is working on, which captures moments Qiu shares with his cat, Taichii, through digital drawings as she accompanies him. The series is a diary, focusing on the mind journey as he visits various places with Taichii. Each drawing is composed immediately through sketches, to retain a pure form of ephemeral feeling.
