Primitive Rug Hooking Tradition
Primitive Rug Hooking Tradition

Jamie Girouard is a Vancouver-based textile artist working in the primitive rug hooking tradition. His work blends ideas of cutting edge technologies and human experience with his Acadian heritage. Rug hooking is an old craft that sees woolen materials (usually worn clothing) shredded and hand-hooked through burlap or some other readily available mesh material. Jamie strives to make his work positively contribute to making our world a better place by reducing textile waste by turning what was old into new, functional art.
