Attentive Photography
Artist Statement:
I picked up a film camera in 2018 and I fell in love instantly. My parents have already instilled the love for photography in me when I was young. My dad always carried a point and shoot film camera whenever we went out and my mom liked to archive family photos ever since she was a teenager. Photography taught me how to see and visualize. I am in awe whenever I go deeper into this form of art. The process of taking photos is all about making choices. It could be choosing a format, a roll of film, a scene, or a subject. How photographers or artists in general make a choice also depends on their upbringings, surroundings, inner circles, and so on. A work of art is not simply just the art itself, but it is an intertwined web of an artist’s mind. This aspect has influenced me to pay more attention to everyday life and to create something beautiful out of it. I mainly shoot with film camera, and my frequent choice for film stock is black and white.
