Artist Biography
Yongyi (Rainy) Huang (b. 1994, Guangzhou, China) is a visual artist currently based between Victoria and the Greater Vancouver area, British Columbia. She holds an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of Victoria and a BDes in Industrial Design from Emily Carr University of Art + Design, as well as a certificate in Interior Design from BCIT. Her practice investigates intergenerational relationships, cultural memory, and belonging. She works across installation, video, mixed media, and material-based processes, transforming everyday objects into poetic vessels of care, resilience, and remembrance. Huang is the 2024 recipient of the Audain Travel Award, which supported her 2025 research residency in Jingdezhen, China, where she continued her exploration of cultural transmission through domestic rituals.
