Expressed Observations
Tracy Bijl’s textile sculpture and collage works are expressed observations of issues in our modern world. Created with great attention to detail and with master hand-workmanship, they can evoke beauty, unrest, and humour. Ms. Bijl’s interest in textiles and costume design began at the age of six in her mother’s sewing studio.
Considered a master seamstress, Tracy worked in the fashion industry for many years, and attended the Apparel Design program at the University of Manitoba. As well as creating textile sculpture and collage, she has designed costumes for many small musical theatre and opera productions throughout British Columbia. Tracy is also a Lyric Soprano, and has worked in arts programming and management for many years.
