Paper Cuts
Artist Statement
I am an artist living in Vancouver making collages I term ‘paper-cuts’. I use embroidery scissors to cut individual pieces from a variety of papers which I then affix to a ground. The majority of the cut pieces are circular in shape which is meant to represent the smallest particles from which all matter is composed. The resulting image is intricate and highly tactile and emerges over a prolonged period of time.
My education included classes at Emily Carr College of Art & Design as well as a BFA from U.B.C. for which I received ‘runner up’ for the Helen Pitt Award. I exhibited in the 2021 ArtRich Juried exhibition and will again in the 2025 exhibition at the Richmond Art Gallery. Other exhibitions have included ‘Women in Arts’ at the Arts Club Theatre, ‘Revision’ at the Deer Lake Art Gallery, ‘Spectrum’ 2025 at the Silk Purse in West Vancouver, a three person show in 2024 at the Kay Meek Gallery and the ‘New & Emerging exhibition’ 2024 at the Seymour Art Gallery. I have also exhibited on several occasions at Gigi Blin a cafe in South Vancouver.
