Painter
Steve Bridger grew up in Vancouver and moved to Richmond’s Slough District over forty years ago. He painted from childhood, exploring many aspects of two dimensional art, and also studied at Emily Carr College of Art and Design. Day jobs such as consultant, researcher and editor supported his art habit. His images are largely landscape-based, tending towards abstraction. He has also made series of works on paper based on media photographs. The landscapes he mainly works from are Metro Vancouver including Richmond, and extensively the Okanagan. More conceptual and text-based themes also show up in his paintings, coming from a background in literature and non-fiction writing. He works in oil, watercolour, collage and gouache.
