Udayana is a self-taught illustrator of mixed heritage. She was born in Russia, but grew up in Mexico. Having worked as a designer of many varied things, from jewellery to auto-parts, and from furniture to whole interiors, she still does that but in children’s books. She is passionate about representation, and tries to portray people of different backgrounds and abilities in her work. She works both traditionally and digitally, with a strong preference for watercolours and pencils.
Udayana has illustrated over 15 books for both Canadian and foreign publishers.
