Outsiders and Others was based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA a long time ago. At one point, we presented an exhibition of local artists who created paintings inside wooden matchboxes. It was a great exhibition, and now it’s time to expand on that concept. Artists from around the world are encouraged to apply!It all starts with an empty matchbox and your imagination. We want you to create a piece of artwork that exists inside a matchbox. It can be painting, sculpture, mixed media—anything! The goal is to present a collection of matchboxes that, when opened, reveal your creative vision or world. Matchboxes look different all over the world and come in many sizes. Once you start looking at them, you’ll be amazed. Every matchbook we receive will be in the exhibition!
