Artist Call: Outdoor Public Exhibition of Temporary Sculptural Works
Arts Alive is Oak Bay Parks, Recreation & Culture’s yearly public sculpture exhibition. The exhibition is on display for up to 12 months at outdoor sites throughout the municipality. Sculptures will be displayed for approximately one year in outdoor public locations (May 2026–April 2027). Only freestanding works that can be securely attached to a provided concrete display base will be selected for exhibition. Sculptors are responsible for installing and removing their work on the supplied bases. Installation guidelines outline specific measurements, bolt patterns, and weight limits. Materials must be durable in outdoor conditions and safe for public interaction. Selected sculptors will receive a $1,600 honorarium, inclusive of travel and delivery/retrieval of artwork. All sculptures will be available for purchase. A 10% commission on sales supports the ongoing development of the Arts Alive program.
