Inaugurating The Annex Gallery at the Richmond Cultural Centre Annex, a new exhibition space exclusively for Richmond-based artists, the Gallery presents works by four Richmond artists–Daniil Alikov, Tammy Cripps, Wendy Ding, and John D Rosenthal, You Are Awesome reflects on the connections between the body, mind, materials, and physical and virtual environments. Whether long-time residents or new immigrants, this eclectic group of artists all use their creative practices to engage in dialogue with their surroundings and the subconscious. Creating everything from painted longboards to unfired clay formations, landscape paintings to algorithm-inspired imagery, the artists experiment with a variety of media and approaches to blur the boundaries between the everyday, memory, and nostalgia.
