Featuring members of Richmond’s Uzume Taiko. The power of Taiko Drumming is incomparable; The complexity and nuance of the expression of Tap Dance is limitless. Done together, it resonates to the core of everyone lucky enough to hear it. This performance is a celebration of grounded human rhythm and the exploration of the polygenetic metres of music. Why did people decide to create these sounds in a way we call “rhythm”? Who decided to create this kind of “play” that flows in cycles of 4 or 5; 7 or 10? And what draws us to them and compels us to dance to them; and with them?
