Speaker Series – Resisting Remoteness: Connecting History, Design, and Comics in the Study of Northeast India
Online
India’s Northeast is often stereotyped as “remote”—cut off from dynamic and global historical processes happening elsewhere. This presentation challenges the myth of Northeast India’s isolation by exploring the connected history of a long-forgotten Northeast Indian labour unit during the First World War. But it does so by challenging simultaneously the isolation of scholarly disciplines at KPU. We present a work-in-progress—a story told in comics form—that brings together faculty and student experts across KPU, from fields as diverse as the Digital Humanities, Fine Arts, History, Design, and 3D Printing.
