Do you know a cultural leader or arts supporter who deserves recognition?

 

The public is invited to submit nominations for the 16th annual Richmond Arts Awards until Monday, March 11, at 5pm.

 

Nominate an extraordinary emerging or established artist, arts leader, cultural practitioner, educator, group or arts business that has significantly contributed to the arts or is deserving of recognition!

 

Nominations are being accepted in the following six categories:
⭐️ Arts Education
⭐️ Artistic Innovation and Excellence
⭐️ Business and the Arts
⭐️ Cultural Leadership
⭐️ Volunteerism
⭐️ Youth Arts

 

All artistic disciplines are eligible: culinary, literary, performing and visual arts, as well as craft, environmental arts, new media and social practice.
💻 Deadline for nominations: Monday, March 11, 2023 (by 5pm).

 

The award winners will be honoured at a gala awards ceremony hosted by Mayor Malcolm Brodie.

 

The Richmond Arts Coalition will award a $300.00 cash prize to the winner of the Youth Arts category, which recognizes a performing, literary, media or visual artist 24 years of age or younger, whose artistic practice demonstrates outstanding promise and commitment to the Richmond arts community.

The Richmond Arts Awards are presented through a partnership between the City of Richmond and Richmond Arts Coalition, and are sponsored by the Richmond News. The program has recognized 91 honourees since 2009.

2024 Nomination Categories

Arts Education
Recognizes an individual or organization whose achievements and contributions to arts education have been significant and far reaching.

Artistic Innovation and Excellence
Recognizes an individual artist or organization that is producing visionary creative work, exhibiting innovation and excellence within their arts discipline and/or bringing a new cultural experience to the City of Richmond.

Business and the Arts
Recognizes a business that has made a significant contribution to the arts in Richmond by supporting a Richmond-based artist or arts organization through sponsorship, philanthropic and/or volunteer service.

Volunteerism
Recognizes an individual that has made a significant contribution to the arts in Richmond by supporting a Richmond-based artist or arts organization through volunteer service.

Youth Arts
Recognizes a performing, literary or visual artist, 24 years of age or younger, who has demonstrated outstanding promise and commitment to the Richmond arts community. The award recipient of this category will receive a $300 cash prize from the Richmond Arts Coalition.

Cultural Leadership
Recognizes an arts professional or organization as a leader in their arts discipline, their organization stewardship and/or their contribution to Richmond’s cultural development.
