Michael Shirley has been an artist for many years. He was born and raised in Vancouver, BC, and is a long-time resident of Richmond. His love and passion for art began in his early childhood. He was primarily self-taught, yet studied with many famous artists including Toni Onley and Brent Heighton. His paintings explore the innocence of youth and the beauty of nature with wonderful scenes of children and gardens. He has exhibited at the Richmond Art Gallery and he is a Board Member with the Community Arts Council of Richmond. He has also generously donated his art to the Nite of Hope, Canadian Breast Cancer Society’s fundraising event. His paintings are carefully composed with rich earthy tone colours and beautiful imagery.
Michael and his wife, Linda, own The Arts Connection and Renaissance Kids in Steveston where children and youth have the opportunity to explore their inner artist in an amazingly creative environment.
