Sandra Yuen’s focus is acrylic paintings of florals, city scenes and abstracts. She attended Emily Carr College of Art and Design, and received a Fine Arts Diploma from Langara College and Bachelors degree in art history from the University of British Columbia. For her, creativity is a lifelong journey, a process of self-discovery which connects her with others.

Under the pen name Sandra Yuen MacKay, she is the author of a memoir My Schizophrenic Life: The Road to Recovery from Mental Illness, a humorous novel Chop Shtick, and a collection of novellas From New York to Vancouver: Stories on the Fly with New York writer, James D. Young.

Sandra is also a drummer for the duo instrumental band Beautiful Losers.

She was the recipient of the Courage to Come Back Award and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for overcoming severe adversity and giving back to the community to become an artist, writer and speaker on mental health issues. Her artwork is in the VGH/UBC Hospital Foundation collection and private collections in North America.
