Unconventional Methods
Unconventional Methods

Embracing an interdisciplinary approach to art, my art practice has come to be an exploration in merging mixed media by means of unconventional methods. My inspiration comes from the readily available materials in my environment. From traditional artist mediums, to found objects, to the raw materials found in nature, incorporating unconventional items is key to my art practice. My Vessels, sculptural works incorporating varied materials, represent the origins of my work with Unfired Clay and have evolved using a variety of processes as evident in the burnishing, coiling, collaging, painting and/or sewing of unfired clay. My two-dimensional work, large-scale abstracts I call Clay Paintings, have emerged from the collaboration of my 2D and 3D work – the construction and preservation of which have evolved from considerable experimentation. My work is best described as innovative, contemplative and tactile abstractions.
