Call for Participants: Newcomers and Richmond residents with lived immigrant experience
Sounds Like Home is a community art and storytelling project that explores how sound connects us to memory, identity, and belonging. The project invites newcomers and Richmond residents with lived immigrant experience to work alongside artists to create collaborative portraits, audio pieces, and video works that reflect what home means to them. Through a series of workshops and creative activities, participants will have opportunities to build new skills, connect with others, and share their experiences in a supportive and participant-led process. The project will culminate in a public installation and community gathering that celebrates the diverse stories and voices that make Richmond home. Sounds Like Home is commissioned by Richmond Public Art through the Emerging Artist in Community Program and is delivered in partnership with Richmond Community Social Development, Richmond Local Immigration Partnership, S.U.C.C.E.S.S., and Chimo Community Services.
