Ceramic Artist
Lily is a ceramic artist who fell in love with clay in 2013. Her work is inspired by the forms and textures of nature, often incorporating imprints of real leaves and objects in the clay. Lily also has a love for all living creatures, and often features frogs, bugs, snakes, and dragons in her work.
Lily has experimented with various firings, including soda firing, raku firing, horsehair raku, obvara, naked raku and saggar firing, and various techniques, including mocha diffusion, sgraffito, sodium silicate, bubble glazing, stamping, piercing and carving. She experiments with functional as well as sculptural pottery, but never settles for anything “ordinary”.
Lily is comfortable hand building and wheel throwing. Recently she has become fascinated with ceramic wall hangings and sculptural pieces inspired by nature.
Lily is a member of the Burnaby Potter’s Guild, the Fraser Valley Potter’s Guild, the Craft Council of BC, and the Richmond Arts Coalition, working out of her home and the beautiful Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.
